HYBRID RIGHT-ANGLE BEND
This hybrid bend is known as the mitre-bend. This form is used on uncoated tubing and is normally practiced in Europe, Where they would bend before they coat the insides of a tube with phosphor.
Heat a circle of glass at a 45 degree angle to the line of the tube. When the glass is softone side of the tube is pulled up, while keeping the tube parallel.
Pull up the raised portion of the tube while super heating form a right angle and regather the glass and even out the walls of the bend. With practice this produces a sharp, mitred, right-angled bend. I don't recommend this be the first bend you try to master. But try it if you wish.
