BENDING DOUBLE OUTLINE  S

This is a good example of a fairly complex, double outline letter S from a single peice of glass. The step by step procedure is shown in this diagram.

A. Straight Glass

B.The first and most important bend is the inside circular U-bend.

C. Next the top U-bend.

D. The large curve to the outside .

E. Then again repeat the inside bend for the bottom half.

F. The large outside curve follows.

G. A doublebackon the bottom stroke of the letter.

H. Do a raise turn, and then heat enough glass to form the closing U-bend.

Always remember to study your layout, and try to bend the letter in your mind before doing any bending.

Another tip is to start your bending in the center of the letter.
